Blue Sky Stewardship Sprouts (age 5-8)

September 13, 2016 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 9:30am on Tuesday, repeating until November 1, 2016

$128

Tuesdays:  Eco-sustainability is so much more than creating a sustainable food supply. It is creating a sustainable network within our environment, our communities, and ourselves! Students in this class will head out into the field to work and learn at Blue Sky Stewardship’s farm location. They might learn about making cider, fermenting foods, preservation and conservation techniques. This spring, we learned about “guerrilla gardening”, which is exactly as exciting as it sounds! Blue Sky Stewardship will share their knowledge of permaculture gardening, alternative uses for food waste from Missoula sources, and involve students in their mission to plant food bearing trees in the Missoula area. This is more than just a farming class – it’s about creating a Missoula that can sustain itself, feed its hungry and be ecologically responsible! There is also a Blue Sky Stewardship class (ages 9+) that meets at the same location from 9:30-3:30 on Tuesdays. This is a great opportunity for parents who have children in different age groups!
