Nature Journaling (ages 8+) Connect 2018
From 12:00 pm to 1:50 pm |
If you love being outdoors, studying the world around you, and drawing, this class is for you. Are birds your thing? Awesome! Do you like bugs? Great! Tree, plant, and wildflower ID your jam? Fantastic! You will start the session off learning how to keep a nature journal and why it is useful. Then get lots of practice while visiting a local outdoor space and creating your own journal entries. Homework will consist of researching the answer to any questions that arise while journaling. Each week will include a mini naturalist lesson covering topics like bird field marks, orders of insects, parts of a flower, etc. The majority of the class will be spent exploring and journaling.
Students will need a backpack, a blank (unlined) journal, pencils, pens, colored pencils, a water bottle, and curiosity. Optional extras include,a snack, water colors, field guides, binoculars (these are really useful, but please don’t feel that you have to buy a pair), magnifying glass, and a ruler.
This class will meet at eNDVR, but then drive to a nearby outdoor space. If your child weighs less than 60 lbs, please provide a booster seat.
