Class Leader

John Thompson

Soapstone is a soft stone that can be carved with stone chisels and files. It is appropriate for kids of all ages from 5-92 years of age. It is a forgiving medium which can be used for abstract to very finely detailed realistic carvings. It takes some instruction with tools and a lot of hands on carving and shaping time. There will be plenty of time for individual guidance and help with carving and problem solving. All soapstone and carving tools will be provided.

In order for all 12 students to be able to participate, parents may need to stay and help students with their projects and to help supervise the use of the tools.
