This class is helpful for :
Students who wish to use current Social Media and methods of sharing.
This class is suitable for: newcomers, those with no or little knowledge of tools like twitter, Google hangouts, Skype, Flipagram or others.
Social Skills, a basic Understanding of Social Media: This class shows how to share those wonderful ideas with grandparents or other family members.
Starting with a tie-in to writing and other prior learning, and picking up at the point there is something to share, we will first examine what media options are out there and how they change over time.
Next we examine the online hazards. Everything from virus to predatory behavior (or innocently sharing too much) and TMI. How to know if you are sharing too much or creating an account on the wrong social media site.
We’ll create accounts (with parental permission) or use a safe joint account to share items of writing poetry or video using some of the safer tools out there.
Students finally leave with instructions, knowledge and cheat sheets for other family members to go find and watch their presentations and other items that are being shared. Hopefully with the intent to continue sharing all their wonderful creations in the future as well.
