Express Session 2016/2017

Actor screen tests will be held Monday, Nov. 14th from 12:30-3:30. Students MUST be registered for the Express session to participate in the casting session unless choosing to only do the Screenwriting Mini-Session. We will be looking for possibly 3 to 4 more main character actors, directors, lead production manager, sound producers and a Script Supervisor. Preparation is very important to the movie making process and students will continue through the week learning their roles and building skills such as time management, organization and coordination.

Students who enroll in the Express session movie making classes must be committed to attending all scheduled class times. All teams involved in the production of the movie depend on each other to complete their parts in order to be successful- and each team relies on each member to be present and willing to participate to make the team successful!

Costume Design Team:  (Ages 12+ One parent assistant needed)

Join the Costume Design Team for our Express session kickoff off! On the first day the Costume Design Team will meet to observe the Actors’ screen tests and watch the process of character selection and development. We will then be designing and creating the costumes for the movie- it will be challenging and fast-paced work! Filming begins the first week of December, with “last looks” being November 29th and 30th.

We will make our own patterns, gather materials for repurposing, sew, and take our team on site to the movie set to costume the cast during filming. Students will need to be able to work on projects and assignments independent of class time.

There will be opportunities to utilize materials and supplies for projects during open times at eNDVR. Along with costuming, students will also be learning and  experimenting with movie make-up techniques, including a one-day workshop with special effects movie makeup artist, Nina Alviar!

This costuming class provides opportunities for expression of creativity, imagination, design skills, team work, as well as learning practical patterning and sewing skills and even time management. Costuming Design will be a great opportunity to be part of a TEAM  and have a fantastic and memorable experience!

Screenwriting:  (Ages 13+)

Students will start by observing the acting auditions during the actor screen tests, then create the script for the movie based on the personalities of the actors. Students will learn screenwriting basics and techniques, and elements such as creating suspense and character consistency. Screenwriting students are encouraged to be part of the Production Team. At the end of the session, one student will be selected as Script Supervisor. The Script Supervisor will continue the screenwriting role as part of the Production Team, adding and editing the script as the movie progresses. Screenwriters are welcome to assume other roles on the production and post production team. and will be required to attend and participate in both roles.

Production Team:   (Ages 13+)

Students enrolled for the Production Express session will need to attend and participate in the Acting Screen tests to learn what kinds of equipment will be used for the filming, sound creation and lighting involved in the production of the movie. Students in production will have roles as Director, Assistant Director, Cameras A&B, Second Assistant Camera, Sound, Producers and Script Supervisor.
